Big Apple : A Nine Months Clothes Project

I bought this book three weeks ago and always pop up on my mind. With adorable models, stylish design, ready to trace patterns and clear step by step instructions, i really fall in love with this book. Wheter you have basic dressmaking or not you still can make the clothes on this book.

This dress is one of the 25 fun making clothes project. I made for nine years old baby. This time i'm not use ready-to-trace patterns from this book, but i try to construct my own pattern. This stylish dress can be finished in no time and it's also eay to sew.

Fold the fabric, and placed in the pattern upon it. Cut one front, one back, ant two strips for the hem flounce in plain-orange cotton.

Gather the back side and front side

Gather the flounce strip, make a ruffle, so it has the same width as the bottom of the dress.

With right sides together, attach the gathered strip to the bottom edge of the dress.

Ensure, the gathered are distributed all the way around

Carrefully bind around the armhole edge with bias binding, and sew it in place. Repeat with other armhole.

Then, bind the front and back neck edges with bias binding. Ssstt..actually i made a mistake for this step. I should bind the neck edges first then the armhole edge.

Finally i have time to do my ribbon embroidery. I designed some simple pattern that i can do just in less than one hour. I hope i can stitch all the design. And here some of the design

Newbie in Kriwil Family

My name shitara, means morning. I bring sunshine in your life.

Hooraayy, kriwil has many new member. After long vacation, finally i can fininshed new member in kriwil familly and add hair for margo and karu. Come on girls let's introduce yourself one by one!!

My name is lilla, i'm rea's twin sister. Yea, rea has left me and life in ho ci minh city.

My name Aruna, i'm shitara's twin sister. Eventhough we are twin, i have my own style, my hair.. my chlothes. I love to be me.

And me, i'm Peoni, i have black curly hair.

My Mey Lin

Mey lin is my new doll. She has dark skin and dark hair like many asian girls. Look, she has many pose. If you like her, you can adopt her.

Ssstttt...i have a little secret about her name. When i named her, i inspired by one of a taxi brand in ho ci minh city, May Linh. Its a famous taxi there and became familiar in my ear. I love that name as i love them all.

The Kriwil : My First Fabric Doll

Hai, we are the Kriwil family, cause we have curly hair (in javanase language curly hair called kriwil). We made from jappanese cotton and the best dacron to fill our body. Thanks to Pin and Paper for the tutorial, so we can born in this beautiful world.

The Secret Garden

"Sometimes inspiration skipped the town and taken your creativity with her. That's why its important being around other creative types who shares your passion, it can be really rejuvenating " (Kari Chapin).

And for me Its important  to keep my hand busy when I'm stuck with the idea. Escape from the ordinary will also help me to take my inspiration back. And I can find that things in a nice little bookstore, tobucil. There, I can meet a lot of friends who shares idea and encourage each other to do more better. And another thing is I love the garden in front of the store, very peaceful. Inspire me to do my ribbon embroidery project. 
Yea, this is my secret garden that I can escape from the ordinary. 
 

Stitches and Techniques : Ribbon Stitch

There are many different embroidery stitches, but that just five basic stitches, used alone or in various combinations, can create a large array of floral motifs and stitch patterns. The ribbon stitch is for ribbon only, but the lazy daisy, straight stitch, French knots, and stem stitch can be made with ribbon or thread.

This time i'll show you how to stitch Ribbon stitch.

Before you start your work, its better for you threadig the end of ribbon. This easy method will help you to ensure your ribbon is secured firmly and not easy removed from the fabric.

Bring the ribbon to the front at the position you want.

Hold the ribbon flat on the fabric with your thumb (not shown). Place the tip of the needle in the centre of the ribbon at the position for the tip of the ribbon.

Take the needle to the back of fabric. Place thumb over the stitch to keep it untwisted (not shown). Begin to gently pull ribbon through.

Pull untill the ribbon folds back on itself at the tip and the edges curl. Completed ribbon stitch

Another version of ribbon stitch. Pull the ribbon back, but do not pull all the edges.
